Remember The Twin Towers?

Twin Towers , When is the last time you heard that name? Probably not in 5 or 6 years or even longer. Isn’t it a shame? These buildings were mighty symbols of our way of life and they were taken from us in the most violent of ways along with 3 thousand souls. Yet here we are with not even a memorial or anything for that matter built in its’ place.
These structures represented American ingenuity, our freedoms, liberties and most of all our economic strength. It has been nearly a decade and we are no closer to rebuilding the area. Not only that, I for one am sickened by the fact we are not building them back to their former glory with maybe the addition of an extra floor just to show the planet our defiance in the face of terror. Not even that is too much to ask. We can’t even fill in that crater of death that now occupies the heart of the financial district.
Between the Port Authority and Silverstein Properties neither will give me an interview much less talk to the main players in this delay. Chris Ward who is the executive of the P.A. has told my source he will not build one square foot of commercial space unless it is rented out beforehand. Anyone familiar with commercial real estate knows this is a fairy tale situation and never happens in the real world. The other obstacle is Mr. Larry Silverstein who is getting paid 100 million dollars a year from his insurance company. What a deal! Some couple of patriots we have here. The only other option we have to get things in gear would be the governor and as it stands now who knows who’ll that will be.
The Pentagon got hit and suffered massive damage but was rebuilt right away. When a restaurant gets hit in Israel they have a crew there the next day and within a couple of months it’s as if it never happened.
With this Terror Trial and the attention it has brought to the downtown area people are talking about the danger of having it here or the platform it gives these animals to spew their hate and put our whole previous administration on trial which some think was the purpose of our present administration. All that might be true but no one has said we should be ashamed of ourselves and the shape that Ground Zero is in. Can you imagine Al-Jazeera everyday showing the entire Islamist Jihadist base “Hey look my brother we have won we have broke their spirit they cannot even rebuild something they were so proud of please come here brothers and do the same they are weak and ripe to be destroyed” That is what scares me that is why we should build our Towers back

ed.

I do agree with youre sentiment (as to many others i spent that day with). rebuild them back the same way and add a few floors just for FU value. there is no way it should have taken this long. not in America and certainly not in New York, if they wanted im sure 10,000 would have volunteered the week after the clean up was done. I was there the Wednesday and Thursday after it happened and belive me, New Yorkers turn out to get things done in a second..no bitching.
I was under the assumtion that they are up to what would be the 20th floor at this point.. still a DECADE? no reasonable reason for that.
As for trying them here as a stunt for the new adminstration making the previous one look bad…well thats pretty shallow. Try them at the scene of the crime, do not elevate them to the status of a “warrior” or “soldier” the are common criminals that performed an uncommon act.
Although shooting them in the head the second they were caught might be instantly gratifying, it goes against everything this country stands for.. in the end when you have nothing you have only your integrity and we are getting pretty close to having nothing, our “national values” are all we’ve got. In my opinion the previous administration did more to damage us than any other. i will avoid listing them here, but the one thing they DID do was try 200+ persons in civilian court for terrorist or terrorist related acts, and they are behind bars for life for the most part. they tried 3 in military tribunals 2 are out and up to who knows what cause theyve been lost track of

I just read the blog and agree with both of you wholeheartedly. I have a good friend who lost her husband that day and there is a hole in her heart that nothing has been built on that site yet after all this time.
I also loved Andrew’s statement about how women are portrayed in the media and how he is concerned for his daughters self image. Skinny models are NOT normal and being a mother of 2 girls I feel the same way. (not to mention the fact that time has put plenty of hippy curves on my body too) For some reason super skinny is always IN but not healthy for young growing girls. In my daughters dance school I hear teenagers talk about dieting or their weight all the time. Not good.
Okay I’m done venting. Off for some cheesecake,
just kidding. LOL
When I worked for Bear Stearns, I was part of the team responsible for the successful construction of our World Headquarters at 383 Madison ave (Now JPMorgan). The planning stage started in 1997 and we moved our employees into their new offices in 2002. This is pretty successful since we had to deal with Metro North Railroad, NYC for air rights and every other bureacracy in the city. The fact that the WTC is still a hole in the ground is a disgrace to all who died, as well as the first repsonders who risked their lives. That includes my brother who as a NYC police officer suffered a heart attack down at Ground Zero at 40 years of age and had to retire from the force. I wish some of our political leaders had the balls to grab the bull by the horns and push the process. They think we are stupid, like we do not know it is bureuatic red tape that is prohibiting progress. But the truth is, we let them. We are not showing our outrage over this disgrace. We have shown our outraqe over Obama’s policies with the tea party movement, we need the same response for this travesty. We owe it to those who died. Chucky “Schmucky” Schumer, here is your chance….Not expecting much from Patterson; Mayor Mike seems disinterested. I say turn the keys over to Trump and watch it get completed in a year.

Great job Andy.
This is a terrific looking site and a great article Andy. I have friends who flew out of the buildings to save their lives. The thought that interagency squabbling, political correctness and greed have frozen forward progress on the rebuilding is a disgrace to Americans.

AMEN!! If the Twin Towers were important enough for terrorists to knock them down then obviosly officials dont think them important enogh to build back. Its outrageous! I never saw them, but always dream of seeing them. Never stop fighting for them
