Well there certainly was a diverse crowd at the Landmarks Hearing today at Hunter College Assembly Hall. Everything from political candidates to parents of firemen who suffered the ultimate loss to the owners of this structure who feel the building has no historical significance whatsoever. I learned something important today this building the Burlington Coat Factory has been under scrutiny for landmark status since 1989. This to me is fascinating. It had such credence before 911 and it became directly elevated since the landing gear of Mohammed Atta’s plane actually landed on the roof of the building giving it all the more reason to landmark it yet all of the sudden this group The Cordoba Initiative sets in motion to propose building their Mega-Mosque and BAM they have a hearing on it within months.

Finally a politician with a soul stands up and demands the funding of this Mosque be questioned and the background of this man Imam Fiesal Rauff the leader spearheading this initiative be scrutinized as far as his associations and past comments and radical writings he has published leading to the conclusion he believes we are responsible for what happened on 911. Well Rick Lazio took a stand and demanded that Attorney General Andrew Cuomo get off his butt and do his job and look into this organization that has claimed to be a charity and make sure he is following proper practice in how he raises funds for this 100 million dollar project ( a question that has yet to be answered) and why is it he will not call groups like Hamas and the Muslim Brotherhood terrorist organizations. Most think if he does his funding would dry up the next day.

Overall I’m ashamed at our politicians excluding Lazio who was brave and noble. Bloomberg has been a complete nightmare since the begining of his 3rd term. He recently came out stating we shouldn’t investigate a church or religious institution of any kind almost giving these Muslims the green light to bring in the hardware for war and we’ll blame it on some Tea Party member who hates the Health Care Bill. I wonder how he would react if it was his daughter who God forbid was murdered by one of these terrorit attacks? Would he be so flippant then? I pray he never has to suffer such a tragedy but some of us have and he better start to be a little more understanding of that.
